SUNDAY REFLECTION (Matthew 22:1-14)

During difficult times, we ought to be lost in a world full of distractions, practicality, and people who view life so differently from us. “We live safe and secured lives” that we don’t have to think beyond our tasks, only those that would contribute to the goals that we are so determined of attaining. We lack awareness. We become so comfortable of fulfilling the needs of everyday life.

We lose sight of those that truly matter, those who truly matter because we are so focused on the things that are already set for us, eventually leading us towards a life so focused on walking a straight path, ignoring the rocks that would make it bumpy. What we don’t always notice is that God walks with us through the bumpy roads, guiding us through and through. Even when we become so focused on other things, He still stays with us.

Many times it has been where I would be distracted, worried, and afraid of what comes after. I am accustomed to having a certain feeling when it comes to school-related things and personal matters, whenever I notice that something is not usually the way it is, I tend to think deeply about why it happened the way it did. I lose sight of those who strengthens me. Even so, God invites me to His loving home over and over again. Going to church makes me feel better, it makes me feel like I have a place to go to in times of uncertainty and difficulty. God reminds me to go forth and share His word to my friends and family, He reminds me that my blessings are not mine to keep but mine to share.

Like the king who sent his servants more than once, God calls us closer to Him and keeps on calling us back to His loving home, even when we don’t see it.

Heavenly Father, in times of need and difficulty, we pray that you continue to sustain us. May you cast away all our worries and help us through our hardships. We pray that you strengthen us, bless us with courage, keep us away from evil and all danger, and may you deepen our hearts so that we may be able to love our neighbors as you love us. Amen.
